Picture this – you’re on your way, driving to your favourite restaurant to treat yourself to that dish you saw on social media. You’re so close that you can almost taste it but-
You’ve been asked to pull over. A random check, not a problem. Ready to whip out your documents but lo and behold, someone’s forgotten them. And that someone is YOU.
Kiss goodbye to your dinner plans because you’re not making it in time.
If you want to know how to avoid this situation, you must ALWAYS keep the legal documents in your car to validate that the car you are driving belongs to you. If found driving without the mandatory car documents, you are liable for a penalty as it is a punishable offence. It could be a challan or the seizure of your vehicle. The same is true for your subscribed car. You must have a valid driving license and registration certificate among others to drive your subscribed car with complete liberty on Indian roads.
Treat this as a handy car documents list you absolutely MUST have in your car at all times:
Driving Licence (DL)
A driving licence is one of the most crucial documents to keep in car while driving, as it comes under the mandatory car documents of the Motor Vehicle Act. Initially, you get a learner’s driving licence for a month before a permanent DL is issued.
However, while driving with a learner’s licence you need to put the ‘L’ sign on your car’s front and rear windshields. After a month, you can apply for a permanent DL by giving the test at your Regional Transport Office (RTO).
Registration Certificate (RC)
The registration certificate is documented proof that you are the owner of the vehicle and its registered with the Government of India. The Regional Transport Offices (RTO) approve and issue the RC of your vehicle. They have a database of all the owners and vehicles in India.
The RTO functions under the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH), which follows provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988.
In the case you have subscribed to a car on Quiklyz, it will be registered under your name and will come with a white number plate. So, it’s not going to feel like you’re driving around in someone else’s car or a commercially rented car. It’s your car, and it will look and feel just like it 😎
Insurance policy
Similar to the DL and RC, an insurance policy is a must-have document to keep in car when driving on Indian roads. It goes without saying that you will be penalised if caught driving without proof of valid insurance. A third-party insurance policy is the least coverage that you must have and a copy of the same should be in your car at all times. However, it is advisable that you also have a comprehensive insurance.
When you subscribe to a car on Quiklyz, we look after all your documentation needs. We not only have the insurance in place before delivering the car to you, we also ensure that Insurance renewals are an absolute breeze!
PUC (Pollution Under Control)
The most vital document is the PUC certificate. It lists that your car isn’t damaging the environment and is fit to run on the road. You’re issued a PUC certificate as soon as the operator has checked your car’s emission levels. If you are caught with an expired PUC document, a penalty will be levied upon you.
If you do not have all or any one of the documents, it’s better to wait and get it ready rather than driving. A penalty is the last thing you’d want to be levied on your subscribed car, right??
These 4 documents should be in your subscribed Quiklyz car, at ALL times. Keep away from heavy fines and be a responsible citizen 💙
Drive legal, drive safe. 🚗
