All About Mahindra 5 Electric SUVs Based on New INGLO EV Platform

Mahindra has unveiled the state-of-the-art INGLO platform and announced 5 new electric SUVs to be built on this next-gen EV platform. The leading Indian OEM Mahindra & Mahindra has lined up five electric SUVs based on the futuristic INGLO EV platform.

Two of the said SUVs will be launched under the XUV banner (XUV.e8 AND XUV.e9), while the remaining three (BE.05, BE.07, and BE.09) will be launched by Born Electric or BE, Mahindra's new all-electric brand.

Mahindra's New INGLO EV Platform 

Mahindra unveiled INGLO Technology in August 2022 as a new disruptive electric platform that is Indian at heart but global in reach. Some of the noteworthy features of the INGLO EV platform are as follows-

• A gamut of futuristic capabilities, including 5G connectivity, a heads-up display with augmented reality, OTA (Over-The-Air) updates, edge-to-edge screen, and more.
• Support for 60-80kWh electric battery packs with fast-charge for 0-80% charge in 30 minutes and range of up to 450kms.
• The Indian car giant will use the INGLO platform for making SUVs measuring 4,368mm to 4,735mm. It also offers a flexible wheelbase, significantly reducing the vehicle's underbody weight.
• SUVs can go from 0-100kmph in 6 seconds.
• An intelligent electronic braking system with a highly efficient powertrain.
• Improved HVAC and cooling system with lower power consumption.
• Structural cage in the passenger cabin to minimize injuries in case of an accident.
• V2L (Vehicle to Load) feature converts the vehicle into a power bank for charging laptops and smartphones and powering external devices like camping lights.

1.  Mahindra XUV.e8

Mahindra XUV.e8 is dubbed as an electric version of the brand's XUV700 but with some significant cosmetic and technological upgrades. It'll be the first SUV from the Mahindra's stable to use the new INGLO EV platform and is expected to come equipped with a 60kWh-70kWh battery pack and 175kW fast charging.

XUV.e8 is expected to offer a WLTP-certified driving range of up to 450kms. It'll be available in AWD (All-Wheel Drive) and RWD (Rear-Wheel Drive) powertrain options offering up to 394PS and 285PS, respectively. The company will share the components, like electric motors and battery packs, with Volkswagen's MEB platform.

2.  Mahindra XUV.e9

After XUV.e8, the next INGLO-based EV under the XUV banner will be Mahindra XUV.e9. The production-ready SUV will feature 70kWh-80kWh battery packs to deliver an impressive range of up to 450kms, according to the WLTP test. Besides a generous boot space, XUV.e9 is also expected to have a frunk or front trunk for extra storage.

Moreover, the Mahindra XUV.e9 will also be equipped with Level 2 Advanced Driving Assistance Systems (ADAS) capabilities which can handle acceleration, braking, and steering in certain scenarios. Also, as the ground clearance is a common issue with the existing EVs, Mahindra is expected to roll out XUV.e9 with a higher battery-to-ground clearance and ramp break-over angle.

3. Mahindra BE.05

Talk about futuristic-looking EVs, and you can't ignore the aesthetics of the Mahindra BE.05. The first compact SUV from Mahindra's BE family will compete with Tata AVINYA, expected to launch in January 2025. In terms of dimensions, the BE.05 will measure 4,370mm L x 1,900mm W x 1,653mm H, with a 2,775mm wheelbase.

To ensure an exceptional driving experience, it'll feature aerodynamic elements, including bumper air curtains and a bonnet Aero Bridge. While the technical specifications are currently unknown, it'll have all the notable features of the INGLO EV platform, including a driver assistance system, panoramic sunroof, head-up display, and OTA updates.

4. Mahindra BE.07

The Tata Harrier-sized Mahindra BE.07 was unveiled as a concept SUV in August 2022. BE.07 will be bigger than BE.05, with the expected dimensions in the range of 4,600mm L x 1,900mm W x 1,700mm H. The premium SUV will be equipped with a 70kWh-80kWh battery pack to return a driving range of up to 450kms.

As Mahindra BE.07 is also based on the INGLO EV platform, you can expect features like premium upholstery, an immersive infotainment system, a driver assistance system, and more. As the vehicle is not production ready, its exact specifications are mostly unknown.

5. Mahindra BE.09

The Mahindra BE.09 is the last SUV from the list of five INGLO-based EVs announced by the company. As the expected price of BE.09 is significantly higher than BE.05 and BE.07, it is currently the most expensive SUV under Mahindra's BE banner. While the company is yet to release any specific details, consumers can expect an extensive range of premium features, given its high price.

But as Mahindra BE.09 uses the INGLO platform, it'll definitely come with all the significant features of this new-age platform for electric vehicles.
