White
This is a colour unanimously preferred by both small car and big car buyers. In fact, nearly half the number of cars sold in India are white. White is considered to be easy to maintain and has the highest resale value among all colours.
Silver
The next most popular car colour on our list is silver, which is preferred for the same reasons as white - it's easy to maintain, makes dust less obvious, and has high resale value. Around 20 per cent of cars sold in India are silver.
Grey
Like silver and white, grey has a sense of simplicity and cars in this shade have a high resale value when compared to other dark shades. Naturally, dust doesn't show either. Grey accounts for 11 per cent of all car colours.
Blue
Among all car colours, blue is a shade that holds its own against the youthful appeal of red and the royal appeal of black, which makes it the best car colour for those who wish to stand out. Around 8 per cent of car buyers prefer this shade.
Red
A colour often preferred for its youthful and energetic appeal, red is a shade whose popularity has never faded. Mostly selected by hatchback or supercar owners, red accounts for around 5 per cent of all car colours.
Black
Ask car buyers which colour they like best but do not end up buying, and black will top the list. Black has a royal appeal but is difficult to maintain and is most prone to scratches. Still, around 5 per cent of car buyers opt for this colour.
Brown
Another dark colour that is difficult to maintain but is hugely loved for its appeal is brown. It is a colour that is usually associated with large sedans and SUVs. Around 3 per cent of car buyers opt for brown as their car colour.
Green
While light green is still a colour avoided by car buyers, darker shades of green are gradually gaining popularity, especially among SUV buyers. In India, the number of green cars sold accounts for around 2 per cent.
Beige
There was a time when beige was one of the most preferred car colours, but its popularity waned gradually, with more people opting for grey and blue. Around 2 per cent of car owners still go with beige as their choice of car shade.
Purple
Purple is a colour that looks majestic while also being unique. This colour is a favourite among large sedan and luxury SUV buyers in India, thanks to its royal appeal. Around 2 per cent of car owners go for purple.
